Iced Green Tea (Sencha)

Zojirushi Recipe – Iced Green Tea <i>(Sencha)</i>

Refresh yourself with a chilled green tea! Iced green tea is perfect for a hot summer day. Make sure to brew strongly, as thawed ice will weaken the flavor when served. Add honey for a refreshing twist.


            	Iced Green Tea <i>(Sencha)</i>  Ingredients

Ingredients (serves 2):

  • 2 Tbsp. sencha tea leaves
  • 12 fl. oz. hot water (175°F)
  • 2 cups ice

Fill Zojirushi water boiler & warmer with water and set temperature to 175°F.

Place sencha tea leaves into the teapot.

When the water temperature reaches 175°F, dispense 12 fl. oz. of the hot water into the teapot. (If using a tea kettle to boil the water, pour the boiled water into the teacup first, then pour that water into the teapot. This will cool the hot water to a suitable temperature.) Allow the tea to brew for 2 to 3 minutes.

Fill each cup with a cup of ice, and pour tea into each cup alternately so that the strength of taste is equal for each cup.

If preferred, add honey or other sweeteners to sweeten the tea.
