| This is the season when the last of the May spring flowers
ushers in the start of summer, June brides and the Fathers
who will give them away. But don't be sad for Dads--a TV
remote, pepperoni pizza and a beer are simple pleasures
that can show our appreciation on this Father's Day; and
Dads love simplicity. |

Real Homemade Pizza
|
| Did you know that Americans eat more than 23 pounds of
pizza a year? Our favorite topping is pepperoni and Saturday
is traditionally our biggest night for pizza. There are
over 61,000 pizza parlors in the United States and they
support a $30 billion industry. We can help turn your own
home into a pizzeria for Father's Day. There is nothing like
homemade pizza dough to start an authentic Italian culinary
experience. |

Something Different For Father's Day
|
| OK, we've helped to satisfy Dad's appetite; what do we do
for a gift? Might we suggest our newest D-Mug from our
travel mug collection. The D-Mug is a unique stainless steel
vacuum bottle that features a customizable outer skin. You
could even decorate it with family photos so Dad can keep
his loved ones with him wherever he commutes. Check our
Innovations section for more information. |

The First Father's Day
|
| In America, Father's Day is believed to have been the idea
of Ms. Sonora Dodd of Spokane, Washington, during a
Mother's Day celebration in 1909. She wanted to honor her
own father, who was a Civil War veteran who raised six
children by himself after his wife died. It took many years
for the country to take the idea of Father's Day seriously,
and where Mother's Day was met with enthusiasm, Father's
Day was met with laughter and sarcasm. Many people
regarded it as no more than a trivial commercial promotion.
It wasn't until 1966 that President Lyndon Johnson
proclaimed the 3rd Sunday of June to be for honoring
fathers, and not until 1972 that it was made an official
national holiday by President Nixon. |
