| Q3. |
What
is an electric boiler & warmer? |
| A3. |
An electric boiler & warmer is a kitchen appliance that keeps water at a constant hot temperature for hot drinks and other culinary uses. You simply fill the pot with water and plug it in. It boils the water and keeps it at a set temperature all day long. With an electric boiler & warmer, hot water is ready all day at the touch of a button for hot tea, instant coffee and instant noodles. Each model features different hot water temperature settings depending upon your needs. Also see Question 5, “What are all those temperatures for?” |

| Q6. |
How
long does it take to boil water in an electric boiler & warmer? |
| A6. |
It depends
on the temperature of the water and the amount, but it usually takes
30 to 40 minutes. The electric boiler & warmer is not meant
to boil water quickly, but to keep the water at a steady temperature
all day long; that is why most of the models have a timer. Please
see Question 7, “How does the timer work?” for more
information on the timer. |
| |
|
| Q7. |
How
does the timer work? |
| A7. |
By setting
the timer, you can have hot water ready within a specified time.
When the timer is set, the electricity is automatically cut off
until needed to heat the water. It’s perfect if you set it
before you go to bed, so hot water will be ready for instant coffee
or oatmeal the next morning. It also saves energy by not having
the electric boiler & warmer on all night long. |

|
| Q8. |
What
does the Descaling mode do? |
| A8. |
The descaling
mode keeps the pot sparkling clean by reboiling the water with Zojirushi
Activated Descaling Cleaner or citric acid. If the pot still becomes
scaled, please see Question 9 for ‘How can I clean the water
deposits in my Electric Boiler & Warmer?’ |

|
| Q9. |
How
can I clean the water deposits in my Electric Boiler & Warmer? |
| A9. |
We recommend
you clean the pot periodically with Zojirushi Activated Descaling
Cleaner or citric acid every 1 to 3 months. You can purchase our
Activated Descaling Cleaner from our online Zojirushi
Store or by calling our Customer Service Department
at 800-733-6270, M-F, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. PST, or follow these
instructions to clean with citric acid: |
| 1. |
Fill a glass with warm
water and add 1/2 cup of lemon juice from concentrate. If using
freshly squeezed lemon juice, please be sure to strain first, so
the pulp does not get caught in the pump and damage the pot. |
| 2. |
Fill the electric boiler
& warmer with water and pour the lemon juice mixture into the
pot. Boil the water. |
| 3. |
After the water is boiled,
let it sit for approximately 2 to 3 hours. If necessary, you can
let it sit for 6 to 12 hours. |
| 4. |
Empty the pot by pouring
out the water and wipe the inside of the pot using a clean towel.
If the pot is still dirty, repeat steps 1 through 3. |
| 5. |
Fill the pot with clean
water and set to boil. After the water is boiled, dispense the water
to flush out any lemon juice mixture that may be trapped in the
water gauge tube. |
| |
|
| Q10. |
What
does the Dechlorinate mode do? |
| A10. |
The dechlorinate
mode reduces chlorine and musty odors from tap water by extending
the boiling time. |
| |
|
| Q11. |
What
does the safety auto shut-off do? |
| A11. |
The pot will
automatically turn off to avoid overheating when there is no water
left in the pot or when the lid is left open. |
| |
