Let\u2019s take a quick look at some of the highlights from the historical year that was\u2014<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">2018 marked the 100th birthday of <strong>Zojirushi<\/strong>, a landmark achievement for any company, period. Not many businesses can reach this milestone, especially in the competitive environment of home electronics. <strong>Zojirushi<\/strong> started in 1918 as a manufacturer of hand blown glass liners, which would eventually evolve into the thermal insulation technology for which it is famous today. To celebrate their 100th anniversary, <strong>Zojirushi<\/strong> in Japan produced a delightful anime called <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.zojirushi.co.jp\/sharethewarmth\/\">Share the Warmth<\/a><\/strong>, a story about a little girl who learns that sharing with others, is the most rewarding gift of all. It\u2019s done in stop-motion style, one of my favorite animation forms. Check it out, you\u2019re going to love it!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.zojirushi.co.jp\/sharethewarmth\/\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"600\" height=\"400\" src=\"https:\/\/www.zojirushi.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/12\/warmth.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-3654\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.zojirushi.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/12\/warmth.jpg 600w, https:\/\/www.zojirushi.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/12\/warmth-300x200.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.zojirushi.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/12\/warmth-450x300.jpg 450w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px\" \/><\/a><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The company also went to the International Housewares Association show, as they do every year, where they unveiled their new products to the industry. Their booth was festively decorated to celebrate their 100th Anniversary, while a party was thrown for VIP guests. All the appetizers and food, including the sushi, was cooked and prepared using <strong>Zojirushi<\/strong> appliances. I covered the Housewares Show in one of my blog posts <a href=\"https:\/\/www.zojirushi.com\/blog\/?p=3223\"><strong>here<\/strong><\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"900\" height=\"600\" src=\"https:\/\/www.zojirushi.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/12\/post-.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-3653\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.zojirushi.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/12\/post-.jpg 900w, https:\/\/www.zojirushi.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/12\/post--300x200.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.zojirushi.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/12\/post--768x512.jpg 768w, https:\/\/www.zojirushi.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/12\/post--450x300.jpg 450w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 900px) 100vw, 900px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Those new products, and more, were introduced throughout the year to us consumers. Among them were a new coffee maker called the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.zojirushi.com\/app\/product\/ecytc\"><strong>Fresh Brew Plus<\/strong><\/a>, the \u201cplus\u201d part being a stainless mesh, permanent coffee filter that comes with it. For iced coffee, you use the special water fill markings for stronger coffee, to compensate for the ice. Neat, huh? No more guesswork! <\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.zojirushi.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/12\/EC-YTC100-small.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-3672\" width=\"300\" height=\"442\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.zojirushi.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/12\/EC-YTC100-small.jpg 600w, https:\/\/www.zojirushi.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/12\/EC-YTC100-small-204x300.jpg 204w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Their new <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.zojirushi.com\/app\/product\/cdwhc\">Water Boiler<\/a><\/strong> came out in June, with a stainless steel interior. This was an important innovation that answered the wishes of consumers who aren\u2019t keen on nonstick coatings. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"600\" height=\"482\" src=\"https:\/\/www.zojirushi.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/12\/boiler.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-3657\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.zojirushi.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/12\/boiler.jpg 600w, https:\/\/www.zojirushi.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/12\/boiler-300x241.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.zojirushi.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/12\/boiler-373x300.jpg 373w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">An upgraded Virtuoso Plus <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.zojirushi.com\/app\/product\/bbpdc\">Breadmaker<\/a><\/strong> was introduced, which simplified and increased menu selection by displaying the full menu imprinted on the lid. The user only needs to reference the type of bread they want, and enter the corresponding number into the program. Oh, and congratulations <strong>Zojirushi<\/strong>, for being chosen as a finalist in the annual HomeWorld Design Awards for 2019\u2014good luck in the contest!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"600\" height=\"486\" src=\"https:\/\/www.zojirushi.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/12\/breadmaker.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-3658\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.zojirushi.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/12\/breadmaker.jpg 600w, https:\/\/www.zojirushi.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/12\/breadmaker-300x243.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.zojirushi.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/12\/breadmaker-370x300.jpg 370w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The latest addition to <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.zojirushi.com\/app\/product\/smta\">Zojirushi\u2019s Stainless Mugs<\/a><\/strong> was introduced as well, with a new and improved flip-open lid. The reason I love the <strong>Zojirushi<\/strong> brand of bottles is the way they completely disassemble for easy cleaning. It\u2019s not like you have to do this all the time, but I feel it\u2019s a good idea, to keep everything sanitary. The cool thing about these bottles is that you can purchase a low profile screw-off lid separately, as an alternative to the flip top. If you get a lid that\u2019s a different color, you instantly get a two-tone colored bottle!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"600\" height=\"253\" src=\"https:\/\/www.zojirushi.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/12\/bottles.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-3659\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.zojirushi.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/12\/bottles.jpg 600w, https:\/\/www.zojirushi.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/12\/bottles-300x127.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.zojirushi.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/12\/bottles-500x211.jpg 500w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">And finally, <strong>Zojirushi\u2019s<\/strong> very first <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.zojirushi.com\/app\/product\/etwmc\">Toaster Oven<\/a><\/strong> was introduced this month. Compact and versatile, it\u2019s the perfect size for singles and small families. The main feature is a mesh grill rack that prevents melting food from dripping onto the oven\u2019s bottom tray or onto the heating elements. I think we can safely say that <strong>Zojirushi<\/strong> certainly did. As for me, my oldest son is getting ready to graduate from college in 2019, and my daughter is getting ready to graduate high school. Being 4 years apart, they\u2019ll be hitting major milestones at the very same time. And we as parents get to experience the whole college thing again, for the next 4 years.
