Her teenage kids made her open the IG account and stuck her with the name, back when the Japanese Iron Chef cooking show was so popular. I can honestly say all the food she\u2019s posted, tastes as delicious as they look\u2014mainly because <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/ironchefmom\/?hl=en\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\"@ironchefmom (opens in a new tab)\">@ironchefmom<\/a><\/strong> is my wife and I get to eat like this at home!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Our family eats all kinds of food at home; and our weekend activity is usually finding new places to eat around Los Angeles, so our menu is pretty varied. Of course, my favorite is Japanese, so there\u2019s always a lot of rice involved. She is Korean-American, so there\u2019s a lot of kimchee involved too. And our kids are pretty Americanized, like my daughter who\u2019s very partial to pasta (like the tarako spaghetti above ). <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Yes, we own a <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.zojirushi.com\/app\/product\/nphcc\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\"Zojirushi Rice Cooker (NP-HCC10) (opens in a new tab)\">Zojirushi Rice Cooker (NP-HCC10)<\/a><\/strong>; not their top of the line, but a very advanced one with a lot of menu settings. Since we often eat plain white rice with our dishes, it\u2019s important to buy quality grain and have it cooked perfectly. Good quality rice does have a flavor\u2014contrary to what most people might think. And what most people may not realize is how rice is so verstile, it complements almost any kind of food, beyond just Japanese. I\u2019ll eat it with anything\u2014steak, eggs for breakfast, chili, marinara meat sauce, Swedish meat balls, hot dogs. It really does substitute for pasta or bread, more than the other way around.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">We had Mexican Chicken Chile Verde once, which we ate with white rice. <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/ironchefmom\/?hl=en\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\"@ironchefmom (opens in a new tab)\">@ironchefmom<\/a><\/strong> prepared it in our new pressure cooker\u2014man, was that meat tender!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"900\" height=\"600\" src=\"https:\/\/www.zojirushi.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/02\/chile-verde.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-3809\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.zojirushi.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/02\/chile-verde.jpg 900w, https:\/\/www.zojirushi.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/02\/chile-verde-300x200.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.zojirushi.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/02\/chile-verde-768x512.jpg 768w, https:\/\/www.zojirushi.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/02\/chile-verde-450x300.jpg 450w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 900px) 100vw, 900px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This Creole Gumbo was done in our slow cooker\u2026as soon as I can get my hands on the new <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.zojirushi.com\/app\/product\/elcac\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\" (opens in a new tab)\">Zojirushi Multi-Cooker<\/a><\/strong>, I\u2019ll ask her to make it again! I love this dish\u2014Miso Marinated Sardines on steaming hot rice. I think we did pretty good. It lasted for 40 days without cheating! Not bad, huh? Even when we went out to restaurants we stuck with it, but boy was it hard (and a little boring IMO). You can do it too!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">So have I made you hungry yet? <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/ironchefmom\/?hl=en\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\"@ironchefmom (opens in a new tab)\">@ironchefmom<\/a><\/strong> loves to cook and posts strictly for fun, and we obviously get the benefits; but of course there\u2019s a downside. I don\u2019t always get to eat the beautiful dishes you see here because I get home late. My daughter is the lucky one, and I usually have to assemble a look-a-like version. I\u2019m not complaining though\u2014it still tastes the same! And when we\u2019re out at restaurants, we\u2019ve grown accustomed to waiting until she gets all her IG shots done before we can dig in. She\u2019s gotten faster at taking the pictures, and we\u2019ve gotten more patient, LOL.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Today is <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/ironchefmom\/?hl=en\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\"@ironchefmom\u2019s (opens in a new tab)\">@ironchefmom\u2019s<\/a><\/strong> birthday.
