Huh? Huh? One popular theory is that you\u2019re holding it an angle anyway, so when it falls (probably less than 6 feet), it only has distance enough to do a half-flip, landing it face down. Ugh! Let\u2019s all celebrate National Toast Day this Feb. 24th anyway, with a few interesting ways to enjoy your toast.<\/p>\n<p><b>Korean Street Toast<\/b> What is in this wondrous creation? Only vegetables! It\u2019s a smorgasbord of shredded cabbage, round and green onions, carrots and an egg, fried crispy and layered on thick toast\u2014served up hot right off the griddle. This works, believe me. I used <a href=\"https:\/\/www.maangchi.com\/recipe\/street-toast\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"color: #0000ff\"><b>Maangchi\u2019s<\/b><\/span><\/a> toast recipe for this, and it\u2019s her suggestion. Check out how we dress this thing\u2014add a couple teaspoons of sugar and spread it on top, drizzle some ketchup and yellow mustard! This is genius, right? The sugar seems a bit over the top, but it works. Eat this hot, and I guarantee you\u2019ll be impressed with the burst of flavor. This is a meal in itself. The concept is different from the American ones and a lot less complicated. You lay the loaf on its side and let gravity help to keep it steady as you slice sideways. It works pretty well&#8230;<br \/>\n<a href=\"https:\/\/www.zojirushi.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/02\/sliced-bread.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-5821 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/www.zojirushi.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/02\/sliced-bread.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"900\" height=\"600\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.zojirushi.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/02\/sliced-bread.jpg 900w, https:\/\/www.zojirushi.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/02\/sliced-bread-300x200.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.zojirushi.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/02\/sliced-bread-768x512.jpg 768w, https:\/\/www.zojirushi.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/02\/sliced-bread-450x300.jpg 450w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 900px) 100vw, 900px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><b><i>Tsukudani Nori<\/i> Toast<\/b><b> <\/b>Next I tried this strange combination (at least to me) of toasted bread and <i>nori<\/i> (seaweed). Specifically I used a seasoned <i>nori<\/i> paste called <i>tsukudani<\/i> which can be bought in bottled form. This is a condiment type of spread that is usually used on hot rice, which I love. A little salty and so full of <i>umami.<\/i> But these guys from <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=0IZKO6aLkjw\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"color: #0000ff\"><b>TabiEats<\/b><\/span><\/a> showed how to use it on bread, so I thought I\u2019d give it a try.<br \/>\n<a href=\"https:\/\/www.zojirushi.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/02\/spreading-nori.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-5822 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/www.zojirushi.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/02\/spreading-nori.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"900\" height=\"600\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.zojirushi.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/02\/spreading-nori.jpg 900w, https:\/\/www.zojirushi.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/02\/spreading-nori-300x200.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.zojirushi.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/02\/spreading-nori-768x512.jpg 768w, https:\/\/www.zojirushi.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/02\/spreading-nori-450x300.jpg 450w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 900px) 100vw, 900px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>You dress it with cheese and pop it in your toaster oven. I\u2019m not gonna lie\u2014I was more than a little worried about what this could taste like. It was tasty! The cheese mellows out the sharpness of the seasoned seaweed, and when it\u2019s toasted I think it gave the bread another level of flavor. What do you think? Just make a scrambled egg mixture and season to taste with salt, pepper and parsely flakes. Create a border on your bread with the the mayo and carefully pour the egg on the bread without going over the mayo piping.
