            	Bubble Waffle Cake Ingredients

Ingredients (makes 1 waffle cake):

Batter:

  • 5 oz. (142g) pancake mix
  • 6 Tbsp. cornstarch
  • 2 eggs
  • 300ml milk
  • 1/2 tsp. vanilla extract
  • 1 Tbsp. unsalted butter, melted
  • 26 pieces chocolate chunks (approximately 1/2" cube size)

Topping:

  • 2 scoops ice cream (any flavor)
  • 1 Tbsp. chocolate sauce
  • 1 tsp. nut topping
  • 2 Tbsp. freeze-dried mixed fruits
  • 2 twigs mint

This recipe was developed for Gourmet Sizzler® Electric Griddle (EA-BDC10) with Takoyaki Plate (EA-YBC01). Adjustments may be necessary when using other models.

              Bubble Waffle Cake Step 1
1

Make the batter. In a bowl, combine ingredients for the batter, except butter and chocolate chunks. Whisk until there are no lumps, then transfer to a pitcher.

              Bubble Waffle Cake Step 2
2

Cook the waffles. Turn the Temperature Control Dial to 300ºF. When preheating completes in about 3 minutes, brush the entire surface of the Takoyaki Plate with melted butter.

              Bubble Waffle Cake Step 3
3

Pour the batter from step 1 about halfway full into each hole. Cook for 1 minute, then turn heat off.

              Bubble Waffle Cake Step 4
4

Evenly pour the remaining batter into each hole, making sure to cover the entire surface of the Takoyaki plate. Use a spatula to smooth and level the edges. Turn the Temperature Control Dial back to 300ºF, place one chocolate chunk into each hole and continue to cook.

              Bubble Waffle Cake Step 5
5

Create a crease line in the middle of the Takoyaki Plate with a soft-edge turner.

              Bubble Waffle Cake Step 6
6

When the waffle edges start to brown, gently lift the edge using a bamboo skewer, then use a turner to fold half of the waffle over the other half and stack them.

              Bubble Waffle Cake Step 7
7

Cook until done, about 2 minutes. Turn heat off and transfer the waffle to a cutting board. Cut as desired and place on serving plates with toppings. Enjoy!
