Diced Steak with Japanese Grilling Sauce

Zojirushi Recipe – Diced Steak with Japanese Grilling Sauce

This sauce is versatile on meat, poultry, seafood or vegetables. Use as marinade or for dipping.


            	Diced Steak with Japanese Grilling Sauce  Ingredients

Ingredients (serves 4):
Japanese Grilling Sauce:

  • 1/4 small onion
  • 1/4 carrot
  • 1 clove garlic
  • 1/3 tsp. sugar
  • 1/3 cup mirin (Japanese sweet rice wine)
  • 1/4 cup sake (rice wine)
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce

For Steak:

  • 1-1/2 lbs. boneless sirloin steak, 1 to 1-1/2 inches thick-cut
  • 2 tsp. vegetable oil
  • 1/4 tsp. salt
  • 1/4 tsp. ground black pepper

Bring steaks to room temperature.

Prepare the Japanese grilling sauce. Grate onion, carrot, garlic and place in a sauce pan.

Add sugar, mirin, sake, soy sauce to the pan and heat to a boil.

Skim the surface scum, reduce heat and simmer for 3 minutes. Set aside and keep warm.

Trim large fat from steaks and cut into cubes. Coat steak cubes with vegetable oil.

Turn the Gourmet Sizzler® Electric Griddle (EA-DCC10) control knob to 400ºF. When the pilot lamp turns off, season steak cubes with salt and pepper, then place on the grill and cook for 30 seconds on each side.

Turn off heat. Serve steak cubes with sauce. Enjoy!
