Zojirushi Recipe – Pumpkin Potage

Here is a soup perfect for cold weather. This creamy pumpkin soup is tasty and can be easily made in your Food Jar. Simply heat all of the ingredients and let your Food Jar finish the rest of cooking for you!

            	Pumpkin Potage  Ingredients

[For 12 oz. Zojirushi Stainless Steel Food Jars]
Ingredients (serves 1):

  • 1 Tbsp. butter
  • 1/2 can (7-1/2 oz.) pumpkin purée
  • 1/2 tsp. onion powder
  • 1/2 cup chicken broth
  • 1 Tbsp. honey
  • 3 Tbsp. heavy cream
  • 1/8 tsp. salt
  • Dash of nutmeg powder
  • Dash of ground black pepper

Topping:

  • 2 saltine crackers

[For 17 oz. Zojirushi Stainless Steel Food Jars]
Ingredients (serves 1):

  • 1-1/2 Tbsp. butter
  • 2/3 can (11 oz.) pumpkin purée
  • 3/4 tsp. onion powder
  • 3/4 cup chicken broth
  • 1-1/2 Tbsp. honey
  • 5 Tbsp. heavy cream
  • 1/4 tsp. salt
  • 1/8 tsp. nutmeg powder
  • 1/8 tsp. ground black pepper

Topping:

  • 3 saltine crackers

*This recipe was developed for Stainless Steel Food Jars SW-EAE35/50. Adjustments may be required for making this recipe in other Food Jar models.

*Please make sure not to overfill the food jar with ingredients, as ingredients will expand with cooking, and may cause the lid to burst.


              Pumpkin Potage Step 1

Preheat the food jar by pouring boiling water (not included in the ingredients list). Close the lid and allow to preheat.

In a sauce pan, place butter, pumpkin purée, onion powder, chicken broth, honey and bring to boil over medium heat.

Turn the heat to simmer, add cream, salt, nutmeg and cook for 2 minutes.

Discard hot water from the food jar and fill with prepared soup from step 3 until 1 cm below the ridge. Seal lid, allow soup to set for a minimum of 1 hours and up to 6 hours.

Add crushed saltine crackers before eating and enjoy!

Make sure to consume within 6 hours to prevent from spoiling.
