• 1/2 medium onion
  • 2 Tbsp. cornstarch
  • 1 lb. ground pork
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 1-1/2 tsp. sugar
  • 2 tsp grated ginger
  • 1 tsp. sesame oil
  • 1/2 Tbsp. soy sauce
  • 2 Tbsp. oyster sauce
  • 1/2 tsp. black pepper
  • 2 Tbsp. vegetable oil
  • 26 wonton wrappers
  • 26 green peas, fresh or frozen
  • 100ml water

Condiments:

  • Mustard

This recipe was developed for Gourmet Sizzler® Electric Griddle (EA-BDC10) with Takoyaki Plate (EA-YBC01). Adjustments may be necessary when using other models.

Prepare the filling. Finely chop the onion and place in a small bowl. Add cornstarch and stir to evenly coat the onions.

In a large bowl, add the remaining ingredients for the filling, except vegetable oil, wonton wrappers, green peas and water. Knead well. Then mix in the coated onions from step 1. Refrigerate for about 10 minutes.

              Shumai Oh My! Step 3
3

Assemble the shumai. Set the Gourmet Sizzler® Electric Griddle (EA-BDC10) with Takoyaki Plate (EA-YBC01). Grease each hole with vegetable oil.

Place a wonton wrapper in each hole, making sure the wrapper lines the hole completely.

              Shumai Oh My! Step 4

Using a spoon, fill each wrapper with the filling from step 2. Create a smooth flat top, and add a green pea in the middle for decoration.

              Shumai Oh My! Step 5
5

Cook the shumai. Turn the Temperature Control Dial to 300°F and cook without covering with lid, for about 5 minutes or until it starts to sizzle.

              Shumai Oh My! Step 6
6

Pour water around the shumai and cover with lid. Be careful of the oil splattering. Cook for about 7 minutes.

              Shumai Oh My! Step 7
7

Remove the lid and cook until all water evaporates, about 2 minutes or until cooked through. Serve with soy sauce and mustard on the side. Enjoy!
