Chilled Out Ramen Salad

Instantly turn your ordinary salad into a hearty meal with the addition of ramen noodles. Salad is dressed with our original karashi dressing - tasty! Worried of soggy salad? Fear no more. Zojirushi food jars will keep your salad fresh and chilled!


[For 12 oz. Zojirushi Stainless Steel Food Jars]
Ingredients (serves 1):  
For Salad: 

  • 2 cups water 
  • 1.5 oz. fresh ramen noodle or 1 oz. dried noodle
  • 1 tsp. sesame oil 
  • 1 hard boiled egg
  • 3 cherry tomatoes 
  • 1/8 cup cucumber, sliced crosswise into 1/8” thickness 
  • 1 thinly sliced ham, cut into 1/2” wide strips

For Salad Dressing:

  • 1/3 tsp. karashi (Japanese mustard) 
  • 1/4 tsp. sugar 
  • 2 tsp. rice vinegar
  • 1 tsp. soy sauce

[For 17 oz. Zojirushi Stainless Steel Food Jars]
Ingredients (serves 1):  
For Salad: 

  • 3 cups water 
  • 2 oz. fresh ramen noodle or 1.5 oz. dried noodle
  • 1-1/2 tsp. sesame oil 
  • 1 hard boiled egg
  • 5 cherry tomatoes 
  • 1/4 cup cucumber, sliced crosswise into 1/8” thickness 
  • 2 thinly sliced ham, cut into 1/2” wide strips

For Salad Dressing:

  • 1/2 tsp. karashi (Japanese mustard) 
  • 1/3 tsp. sugar 
  • 1 Tbsp. rice vinegar
  • 1-1/2 tsp. soy sauce

*This recipe was developed for 12 oz. and 17 oz. Zojirushi Stainless Food Jars. Adjustments may be required for making this recipe in other Food Jar sizes.

Pre-chill the food jar by filling with ice cubes and water (not included in the ingredients list). Close the lid and allow to chill.

In a sauce pan, place water and bring to a boil. Add noodles to the water and cook according to the package direction.

Drain hot water from cooked noodle and rinse with cold water. Drain excess water and coat with sesame oil in a bowl. Set aside.

In a small bowl, mix all ingredients for the salad dressing.

Discard ice and water from the food jar and pour in the dressing from step 4.

Place whole, boiled egg in the food jar.

Cut an “x” on each cherry tomato with knife and place in the food jar.

Layer cooked noodles, cucumber slices, then ham. Fill until 1/2" below the ridge.

Shake the food jar to dress the salad right before eating. Open lid and carefully mix the salad with a fork.

Make sure to consume within 6 hours to prevent from spoiling.
