Gourmet d’Expert® Electric Skillet (EP-PBC10)

Happy New Year, Zojirushi fans!  We hope that this new decade helps bring you success and happiness!

What are some of your goals for 2020?

We are excited to start this year by introducing you to one of our favorite products and our Product of the Month– the Gourmet d’Expert®  Electric Skillet (EP-PBC10)!

This Electric Skillet is not like any other– this versatile product is packed with so many ingenious features that we’re sure you’ll love.

Let’s start with the basics– how it works.  This skillet is composed of a main body with heating surface, a cooking pan, a lid and a power cord.  Once out of the box, you just simply wash the cooking pan and lid before the first use, place the cooking pan in the main body, attach the removable power cord and you’re ready…how simple is that?!

The cooking pan is 2 1/4 inches deep with a diameter of 10 1/2 inches, and it features a titanium and ceramic nonstick coating.  The size of the cooking pan, as well as the nonstick coating makes it ideal for sauteing ingredients, braising vegetables, simmering stews, cooking risottos, grilling meat or gyoza, and even for making fondue and pasta!  It’s the perfect addition for family nights and for impressing your guests at any potluck event.

Once the cooking pan is set in the main body, which houses the heating element, dishes can be prepared on various temperatures, ranging from 280°F to 430°F.  The skillet can also be set to Keep Warm.  This Electric Skillet can also be used on a gas stovetop burner to help precook ingredients for stews or other dishes simmered in liquids.

Along with the cooking pan, the tempered glass lid is a cook’s best friend.  Not only does this lid let you safely monitor cooking, and of course, prevent splatters, but it helps foods and liquids cook faster.

And that is how this great skillet works!  Even better, this skillet is built with safety in mind, just like our other products.  First, the power cord easily detaches in case it’s accidentally tugged.  Second, the handles on the cooking pan stay cool, preventing burns when transferring the pan.

And of course, each component of the skillet is easy to maintain.  Simply wipe the main body and heating element with a damp cloth, wash the pan and lid with warm water and mild dish detergent and let everything dry thoroughly.

Ok, now that we’re done talking about the awesome features, we really need to get to the food!


Well, we love the traditional Japanese dishes that we make in this skillet.  Everything from Japanese-Style Teriyaki Chicken and Chanko-Nabe to Sukiyaki and Salmon Kobumaki Kelp Rolls, served during the New Year festivities!  We also love the Western savories that cook up beautifully in this skillet, like like Fava Bean Risotto and Chicken Breast Cacciatore.  But we really go for the unexpected dishes that we make in this skillet like Chocolate Crème Brulee and Thick Style Matcha Hotcakes

Product Inspirations – Gourmet Sizzler® Electric Griddle (EA-BDC10) + Takoyaki Plate (EA-YBC01)

Improving our customers’ quality of life through the creation of innovative products remains at the heart of what we do. This founding principle guided our product designers to create one of our favorite appliances – the Gourmet Sizzler® Electric Griddle (EA-BDC10) and the optional Takoyaki Plate (EA-YBC01)!

Our newest griddle exemplifies the style, ease and versatility you’ve come to expect from us. It features a compact, user-friendly size along with even heat distribution for speedy cooking. It also comes with a convenient lid, variable temperature settings and a removable cooking plate made with a diamond-pattern surface which protects the nonstick coating and helps to keep foods from sticking.

The cooking plate is heated to the temperature set using the temperature control plug, which lets you choose between a keep warm temperature of 176°F to a cooking temperature of 400°F. This variable temperature setting makes the griddle versatile enough to cook a range of foods, from breakfast dishes like pancakes to filling dinners like okonomiyaki, yakisoba and burgers. When you use the convenient lid, you can also steam foods like pot stickers, and prevent spills and splatters when you’re grilling meat or making tender stir-fries.

The optional takoyaki plate, which can be purchased separately, makes this griddle even more multipurpose, letting you make 26 large savory takoyaki at a time. If you’ve never had takoyaki, you’re sure to love this iconic Japanese street food. Takoyaki are made with octopus, flour, dashi, eggs and savory seasonings. We’ve posted a great how-to video on our website to help you prepare them!

The Gourmet Sizzler® Electric Griddle comes with numerous other convenience and safety and features. The griddle has a 6.6 foot long power cord that lets you plug it in next to your table, and the cooking plate and heater sit inside a body guard which is designed to help prevent scalding. And the cooking plate won’t heat unless the temperature control plug is correctly installed.

As with most of our products, keeping the griddle clean is simple and straightforward, as the parts assemble and disassemble easily. The cooking plate and body guard can be fully immersed in warm water and mild detergent for cleaning. The exterior simply needs to be wiped down before storage.

With all of these features, we really love using the griddle for breakfast and dinner (and maybe a dessert or two!). All of the ingredients for hearty breakfasts like our Irish Good Morning, which features eggs, sausage, bacon, potatoes, tomatoes and puddings, can be lined up on the griddle at the same time. No need to use multiple skillets and pans to get breakfast on the table. Complete dinners such as Miso-Marinated Chicken Teppanyaki are savory and simple to make. Just line up marinated chicken with vegetables on the cooking plate, pop on the lid and let the griddle go to work. Dinner can be ready in less than half an hour, and cleanup is simple with only the griddle to worry about. Of course, dessert is always an option, especially when it’s our luscious Chocolate-Chocolate Crepes!

The Gourmet d’Expert® Electric Skillet (EP-PBC10) is the smaller of the two models in its eponymous line. The cooking pan has a 10 ½ inch flat-bottomed cooking surface which makes it simple to prepare eggs, pancakes and crepes in the skillet. The sides of the cooking pan are 2 ¼ inches high, which is ideal for sautéing, stewing, braising and steaming. And the temperature control plug lets you adjust the cooking temperature from 176 F, which keeps food warm, to 430°F. Pepper Beef Chow Fun

Dinner should of course start before dessert, even on Valentine’s Day, and we think you and your loved one will enjoy the flavors of Pepper Beef Chow Fun, easily prepared in our Gourmet d’Expert® Electric Skillet. This recipe calls for flank steak, marinated in a whiskey-infused sauce, which is sautéed with red and green bell peppers and fresh jalapenos for just a bit of spice! The beef and vegetables are then combined with ribbons of chow fun noodles that have been sautéed until they’re golden and delicious. Paired with your favorite drink, and this quick-to-make, colorful and decadent dinner will surely please your palette.

Chocolate fondue with yummy dippables

A quick rinse of the cooking pan, and you’re ready for dessert. Chocolate must be on the menu, and what easier way to serve it than as fondue! Our Chocolate Fondue recipe is easy to prepare… simply combine whipping cream, bittersweet chocolate, vanilla and almond or hazelnut liqueur in the skillet and heat on medium until the mixture is smooth and creamy. The best parts of this dessert are the dippables! Arrange bite-sized pieces of juicy fresh fruit, buttery pound cake and brownies, crunchy biscotti and pretzels and soft marshmallows on a platter with skewers. The power cord allows you to keep the fondue warm on a counter or tabletop and the stay-cool handles make it easy to move. All you have to do now is dip and enjoy!

At the end of your meal, you’ll have fewer dishes to clean up and a lot more fun cooking tableside with your date.
